If you use the new Visual Studio Extensions for Git, you’ll know exactly which branch you’re working on. However, if you use Team Foundation Version Control (TFVC) you can’t easily see which branch your open solution is on. But with this small Team Explorer Extension on the VS Gallery by Visual Studio ALM MVP Colin Dembovsky, you now can! Not only will the extension show you which branch you’re working on, you’ll be able to instantly switch to the same solution on another branch instantly.
Once you’ve installed the extension, you’ll see a new Link under the Pending Changes section:
Click on “Branch Info” to see the extension in action.
You'll be able to see all the branches for the current solution in the "Other Branches" dropdown. Simply click "Switch" to open the solution from a different branch.
“Being an MVP is great. Interacting with other global ALM MVPs and the MS TFS and Visual Studio Product Team on a daily basis for news, help and discussion is a huge help to me, and ultimately to my customers,” says Colin about being an MVP. “The annual MVP Summit in Seattle is also one of my favorite conferences!”
